Ingredients Food Photography
It’s a great time of year for fresh fruit and veg and so we took advantage of it for a recent shoot, photographing some lovely ingredients.
Just simple lighting and simple background.

First up, is this lovely purple aubergine, shot on a seamless background which complements its colour stone with some directional yet softened lighting.
Very simple and graphic.
This freshly picked cauliflower makes a great food photography subject – the textures of the leaves frame the edible part of the cauliflower (queue the inevitable comments about how the cauliflower leaves can be eaten too …) beautifully. The food stylist (myself on this occasion) added a spray of water to add to the fresh vibe.
Figs are a new favourite of mine to eat and their delicate flavour and interior required a similar treatment with it’s photography. I used a very soft light and a pleasing natural looking background to show off the fruit. A couple of whole figs soft in the background compete the composition.
This pomegranate needed some more directional lighting to pick out the amazing seeds and texture. I used a bare bulb at top right of the image to pick out the reflections in the seeds and the texture of the pomegranate insides. A harder light creates shadows which add a further dimension to the fruit and shapes.
I will leave you with this beautiful fruit and vegetable photography. Have a great week!
