Valentines Day Photoshoot
‘It seems weird to wish a Happy Valentine’s day to people who simply aren’t my Valentine. So I’ll just say, “it’s Valentine’s day, so here’re some Valentine shots you may like.”

Food Photography for Valentine’s Day Photoshoot
It’s gotta be:
- Chocolate
- Sweet stuff
- Strawberries
- Roses (not food – I’ll skip this)
- Champange
I didn’t have any roses nor was prepared to open a bottle of bubbly for this quick photoshoot, so I stuck to the first three on my list.
Waffles from Ikea
I went to Ikea about 6 months ago looking for a table. I came home with a chair, wardrobe, shelves, bin, spatula, and some frozen waffles.
(and if you can’t be bothered going to Ikea – you can make your own)
No table. Didn’t see one I liked.
But back to the waffles. I stuffed them in the freezer thinking I will photoshoot them for Valentine’s Day.
I forgot all about them until yesterday, the 13th Feb.
Chocolate Milk
I also didn’t have chocolate milk, so I made some out of water, cocoa powder and Xanthan gum. That’s my go to chocolate milk recipe. It doesn’t taste very nice.
Frozen Strawberries
Nothing much to say about this, except frozen strawberries look ok and can pass off as fresh strawberries if they aren’t the main focal point of the image. In my case, it works as the strawberries are falling into the chocolate milk and the detail on them isn’t needed.
The waffle drip
A plain but high impact image can also be fun. Here is the floating waffle with chocolate sauce (this is the real stuff) dripping all over it. Some open space on the right side of the image gives advertising copy space, if required.
And that really is a Valentine’s Day photoshoot in a nutshell. Or a chocolate waffle, shell.
